The Position Of Director Is Responsible For Operations...

Qualifications Requirements: Director: The position of director is responsible for operations within the childcare center, to include acquiescence with regulations and communication with the department. As a director, he or she is to remain on the premises during all hours of operation and will be unable to accept any other form of employment that may interfere with stipulated duties. In order to become a director for a childcare center, an individual must meet several prerequisites before employment. These prerequisites include: background check, finger print clearance, health screening report with TB test, high school graduation or GED and 15 semester units at an accredited college in specified early childhood education classes. Three of the required units are to be in administration or staff relations, the remaining 12 units are to be in areas specific to child growth and development; child, family and community. Among these educational requirements, the individual must have completed four years of teaching experience, in a licensed center or an equivalent childcare program. However, two years are only required if the director has an AA degree in the area of child development or a child development program director permit, which must be issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
